Friends of Matimba, Inc. ("we", "us") is a US nonprofit that raises funds to advance health justice and equity in Mozambique. We keep this policy short because our website is simple: it tells you about our work and lets you make a donation. This page explains what information we collect when you visit or donate, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

If you simply browse our site, we don't ask you for any personal information. Our hosting provider records basic technical details common to every website, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, which are used to keep the site running and secure.

If you donate, we collect the details you enter into our donation form: your name, email address, billing address, donation amount, and any message you choose to leave. Payment card and bank details are entered directly into our payment processors and are never seen or stored by us.

If you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply.

How we use it

We use donor information to process your gift, send you a receipt and thank-you, keep the records required of a US nonprofit, and, if you'd like, keep you updated about our work. We may also use it to answer questions you send us. We do not sell, rent, or trade donor information with anyone.

Who we share it with

We work with a small number of trusted service providers to run the site and process donations: Donorbox (our donation platform), Stripe (payment processing), Netlify (website hosting), and our email provider. Each handles your information under its own privacy policy and only for the purpose of providing its service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Emails from us

After you donate, we'll send a receipt and may send occasional updates about Matimba's work. Every update email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us at any time to opt out. We'll still send transactional messages, such as receipts, when you make a gift.

Cookies

Our own pages do not set tracking cookies. The embedded donation form and payment processors may set cookies needed to process your gift securely and prevent fraud. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad networks.

Keeping your information safe

Our site is served over an encrypted connection, and payments are handled by processors that meet the payment card industry's security standards. We keep donor records for as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes and to maintain our relationship with you.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (subject to records we're required to keep). Just email info@friendsofmatimba.org.

Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Donations and refunds

Donations to Friends of Matimba are generally non-refundable. If you made a gift in error or entered the wrong amount, contact us within 30 days at info@friendsofmatimba.org and we'll be glad to refund it. Recurring donations can be changed or cancelled at any time through the link in your donation receipt or by emailing us.
